Quick Change

Pearl Earrings: Unknown (gift); Cardigan: Ann Taylor Loft; Shell: Worthington; Pants and Ombre Chain Bracelet: nicole by Nicole Miller; D'orsay Flats: Sam & Libby; Clutch: Kenneth Cole Reaction; Bar Necklace: Old Navy; Pumps: Nine West; Spiked Earrings: Kenneth Cole

"A few of us are meeting up after work. Care to join us?"

This simple statement can evoke fear in those of us unprepared and dressed in "work wear." Wouldn't it be great to not even think twice about that statement and respond with, "Absolutely! Where are we going?"

News flash: You CAN!

Use this ensemble for inspiration. For a perfect work outfit, I started off with these stylish d'orsay flats from Sam & Libby (found at Target!) and paired them with sleek black pants from one of my favorite brands, nicole by Nicole Miller and a great graphic Worthington shell that called out to me during a shopping trip in JC Penney. I could not believe my luck when I noticed the color in the shell matched PERFECTLY with my new Ann Taylor Loft cardigan (which, coincidentally I'm sure, called out to me during a shopping trip in Marshall's).

I threw my hair back and added this simple bar necklace (found at Old Navy!), these delicate pearl earrings and neutral makeup to perfect my work wear ensemble.

"A few of us are meeting up after work. Care to join us?"

"Absolutely!"

Off goes the cardigan and on goes some fun accessories! I switched out the dainty pearl earrings for some Kenneth Cole spiked earrings and went from flats to heels with these GORGEOUS printed Nine West pumps (bought at Elder Beerman...always a go to for accessories) and this outrageously fierce ombre chain bracelet from nicole by Nicole Miller. After painting on a bright red lip and shaking my hair out, the only thing left I had to grab was this bright Kenneth Cole Reaction clutch (also found at Marshall's...LOVE Marshall's!) and I was ready to meet the girls out!

You see, all you need is to grab a few accessories such as heels, a clutch, some fab jewelry and your favorite red lipstick and throw them in a bag to keep in your car! Keep this in mind and never say no to your coworkers (or a fun night out) again!

It's As Simple As...

Tee: Milly for DesigNation; Skirt: Elle; Bracelets: Simply Vera Vera Wang: Scarf and Black Crystal Necklace (worn as bracelet): Vintage; Earrings: Nicole by Nicole Miller; Clutch: Liz Claiborne; Strappy Sandals: Lauren Ralph Lauren

As most of you know, I am a fan of color. I believe a pop of color is good for the soul. It draws the eye in and can showcase your mood. It's fun to play with complimentary colors and also pair together unlikely combinations.

However, sometimes it's just as fun (and simple) to go with black and white. It can be just as graphic and will easily draw the eye in. It is stylish, yet mysterious. What type of mood is she in? Why did Liz stray away from color? What reaction is she trying to evoke? Or is it just as simple as wanting to wear black and white?

Hint: It's just that simple.

I love to pair tee shirts with skirts. It is unexpected, yet fun and easy. This tee from the new Milly for DesigNation collection is fun and flirty. It was easy to pair that tee with my lace black and white striped skirt from Elle. To keep the theme going, I just threw on some simple black accessories including my Lauren Ralph Lauren strappy sandals and the bracelet on my left wrist (which is actually a long vintage black crystal necklace I wrapped around several times) and my outfit was complete!

No color. No backstory. No problem. Just as simple as black and white.

Delicacy

Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo; Earrings, Necklace and Top: LC Lauren Conrad; Jeans: Old Navy; Box Clutch: Eva Mendes for New York & Company; Bangle: Vintage Coco Chanel; Heels: BCBGirls

I can appreciate the finer things in life. Those items so dainty and delicate that just SCREAM, "Stay away from me, Liz!"

Allow me to elaborate. I'm a bit of a klutz. Ok, I'm a huge klutz. I am that girl who actually tore the tendons in her ankle after tripping over her roommate's ankle bootie that was laying in the middle of an ENTIRELY clean floor (true story).

I always felt like a bull in a china shop when I would be visiting with my Grandmother. She had oh so many nice things and glided around them with such grace and ease. I would be scared to death to walk by a vase or the glass coffee table. Sometimes we would play with her jewelry, which always drummed up fears of breaking some priceless family heirloom (or a fierce piece of costume jewelry, for that matter!), yet she trusted me.

I'm glad one of us did.

I have a few delicate items in my closet and jewelry armoire. So I figured, if I wear them all at once, perhaps if some misfortune befalls me, I won't ruin EVERYTHING. Just one or two items.

This LC Lauren Conrad top and necklace is so beautiful and dainty. I absolutely adore the femininity that oozes from this top. And I am appreciating simpler chains this season as well. This vintage Coco Chanel bangle is also a delicacy. I've worn this quite a few times, yet every time I wear it I am overly cautious my klutzy ways do not get involved. This bangle is absolutely stunning and goes with anything. It's one of my most treasured pieces.

I am proud to say that I was able to wear this beautiful top, paired with a dainty chain and my vintage bangle without catastrophic results. Can I really go through life with delicacies all around me and actually be ok?

Perhaps my Granny was right all along.
